Probably wrong. The first piano that you purchase for any beginner should be the best piano you can afford. Everything that a person relates in learning to play of any instrument, goes back to the first one they own.

Correct assessment. No "practice pianos" for the budding musicians! A jalopy piano does nothing for one learning to play upon the keys.
ReplyDeleteDitto for players. I always tell my roll customers to a) restore the piano action, b) voice the hammers for the treble, esp., which have to be very soft for the Pianola and c) continue with the electric pump or pedal exhausters and d) THEN address the player action.
Too many peoplel want to "fix the player" and their as is piano isn't up to a good performance.
